Two Different Worlds: A wood worker from Queens and an Italian Supermodel. Impossible? Maybe.
Medley
Four love stories that are intertwined with the tale of a young man who has the ability to predict the winner of an election. Any election. Anywhere. Every time. Also, the heart-warming saga of poor Hungarian immigrants who live the American Dream, two young men who become life-long brothers, a genuine Marine hero and a friendship between a blond dare devil woman and a black colossus.
All figure into the tapestry that surprises and delights.
Forever Young
A young man at the pinnacle of his happiness, returned home a war hero, had a faithful girlfriend and prospects for a successful career were in the offing. Things were so good when he was celebrating his 21st birthday, he wished he could stay 21 forever. He got his wish, but couldn’t foresee the problems that would arise when everyone got older, except him. He resorted to subterfuge and disguises that made him look older even when he could take the stairs two at a time.
The story takes a bizarre twist when he finds himself as kingpin of a drug operation that results in an ending no one saw coming!
Thoughts, Musings, and Observations: An Antholgy of Aphorisms and Essays by “Joe Roberts” Caputo
This a collection of writings by 89-year-old “Joe Roberts” Caputo. In addition to writing some 16 novels over the years, Joe has observed the Human Condition with interest and critical thinking. Many of the one-liners carry a thought in just a few words. Others cause one to start thinking at a different level. There are also a number of essays describing some day-to-day situations. Many of them evoke a thought or two. Others, a tear or two. Then there are the essays in which Joe gives a personality to inanimate objects. i.e. A Pebble. A leaf. Snow. Sunshine. It is a novel way of looking at everyday things. Another instance of streching your imagination. There is something for everyone who is looking for humor and wisdom.
Old Soul: Time and logic denied.
This is a story about a handsome and brilliant young boy with abilities well beyond his years. These include kissing older girls as well as a voluptuous 35-year-old woman and leaving them breathless. We learn about the wretched life of his mother who refused to be defeated, a wife-whipped husband who gets a second chance at happiness, and a mending of a broken family. But most importantly, the dangers of a May/December romance.
The Tug: Sometimes, you just have to go on a hunch.
A girl considered “gangly,” turns out to be anything but in a life that takes her from her home in Brooklyn to Salt Lake City and the Summer Olympics. Along the way, she has the undying support of her eventual soul mate, some surrogate parents, and the worship of a baby sister. Possessed of pert natural athletic abilities, she embarks on a strenuous plan to succeed as few women have in track and field. Tragedy strikes but is soothed by events that eventually lead her to a place in her life she never could have imagined.
Thoughts, Musings & Observations II: Original aphorisms that touch the mind & the heart
These sayings in this second volume are terrific conversation starters, as well as thought provokers. They reflect the mind of “Joe Roberts” Caputo which can, in turn, be mischievous, quirky, or deadly serious. With a perspective that spans more than 80 years, Joe has been a keen observer of the human condition. He comfortably has one foot in history, and the other in today’s high tech world. Because they are so brief, and there is no plot to worry about, you can easily read several of these in less than two minutes. Here is hoping you get as much pleasure in reading them as Joe did in composing them.
The Touch: The powerof persuasion
About the book:
Imagine having the ability to touch someone for a few seconds and persuade that person to see things your way. Well, that’s exactly what a young kid from Brooklyn discovered when he was nine years old. This story chronicles his journey from what would most like have been a life at a menial job in a gas station to an improbable career in radio broadcasting. Along the way, he meets interesting characters including the pre cursor to Mrs. Doubtfire, a dazzling cheerleader, becomes like a son to the governor of Texas, and meets the love of his life. This is a rags to riches story with a most surprising ending. And, it could only have happened in America.
Thoughts, Musings & Observations III
Pity the newly minted grandparents, who can’t hug their new grandbabies.
It would be interesting to learn who is paying for all the bottles and bricks. Peaceful protesters don’t carry bricks. Convicted looters should be sentenced to pay for, and clean up their mess. Someone once said that all it takes for evil to succeed, is for good people to do nothing.
Rescue
A handsome Harvard graduate from Texas helps migrants assimilate to their new country and falls in love with a refugee from Afghanistan.
